Role Summary
As a DevOps Engineer at Sophos, you will be instrumental in evolving our development lifecycle. You will facilitate, automate, and scale the deployment, configuration, and monitoring of our large-scale cloud-native SaaS and on-premises applications.
By leveraging your expertise in AWS and Kubernetes , you will streamline our CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid, frequent, and reliable automated builds. Beyond technical implementation, you will act as a mentor teaching and assisting engineering teams to build, manage, and monitor high-performance cloud applications with increased agility.

Environment Orchestration: Manage and communicate the state, versioning, and availability of various environments to Developers, QA, and wider team members.

Tooling Excellence: Maintain and optimise shared development tools for branching, tagging, building, releasing, and reporting.
What you will bring
Essential:
- Containerisation: Practical experience with Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, or Rancher.
- Technical Background: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar languages to automate repetitive tasks.
- Linux Mastery: Proficiency with Linux distributions (eg, Ubuntu, CentOS).
- CI/CD: A deep understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery principles.
- AWS Expertise: A broad knowledge of AWS services, specifically CloudFormation, EC2, ECS, and EKS.
- Version Control: Expert use of Git and GitHub within a distributed team environment.
- Monitoring & Alerting: Strong understanding of monitoring and alerting using tools like PagerDuty, Zabbix, and LogicMonitor for system health visibility, alerting, and incident response.
- Certification : CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator), AWS Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administration.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions both internally and externally.
