Job Description
Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on HashiCorp Vault Engineer with strong experience in designing, developing, and deploying Vault from scratch. The ideal candidate will have worked on at least one end-to-end Vault implementation project and possess a deep understanding of Vault architecture, infrastructure, and secrets management.
This role requires a strong foundation in infrastructure, Linux systems, and secure platform engineering, with exposure to data center environments being a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Vault Design & Implementation
- Design, deploy, and configure HashiCorp Vault from scratch across environments
- Implement Vault in production-grade environments with scalability and security considerations
- Configure and manage Vault clusters, HA (High Availability), and storage backends (Raft, etc.)
Architecture & Security
- Define and implement Vault architecture and infrastructure setup
- Design and manage authentication methods (LDAP, AppRole, Kubernetes, OIDC, etc.)
- Configure and manage secret engines and policies following least privilege principles
Infrastructure & Platform Engineering
- Work closely with infrastructure teams to integrate Vault across data center and cloud environments
- Ensure secure and efficient secrets management lifecycle
- Implement best practices for encryption, key management, and access control
System & Operations
- Troubleshoot and resolve Vault-related issues across environments
- Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance
- Maintain documentation for architecture, configurations, and processes
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with HashiCorp Vault (design + deployment from scratch)
- Experience implementing Vault in at least one real-world project
- Solid understanding of:
- Vault architecture (HA, clustering, Raft, replication)
- Secrets management and security best practices
- Strong experience with Linux systems (administration & troubleshooting)
- Good understanding of infrastructure environments (on-prem/data center or cloud)
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification: HashiCorp Certified: Vault Associate (HCVA002 / HCVA003)
- Experience working in data center environments or infrastructure implementation projects
- Exposure to automation tools (Terraform, scripting - Python/Bash)
- Familiarity with DevOps/SRE practices and cloud platforms
