Job Description
Senior DevOps EngineerYears of Experience: 5-8 Years
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Kubernetes, GCP, and automation tools, particularly Terraform and Python. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our software delivery processes, ensuring system reliability, and enforcing security best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to enable fast, safe, and automated software delivery.
- Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters on GCP (GKE), including workload deployments, scaling, resource optimization, and cluster lifecycle management.
- Author and maintain Helm charts for packaging and deploying microservices across multiple environments (dev, staging, production).
- Implement and govern Kubernetes deployment strategies ? including rolling updates, blue/green deployments, and canary releases ? to minimize downtime and risk.
- Build and maintain Docker images; enforce container best practices including image hardening, layer optimization, and secure base images.
- Own cloud infrastructure automation on GCP using Terraform ? including writing reusable modules, managing remote state, and handling workspace-based environment separation.
- Configure and manage proxy infrastructure (forward/reverse proxies, load balancers, ingress controllers) and ensure correct network routing for internal and external traffic.
- Design and enforce networking policies within Kubernetes (Network Policies, service meshes) and across GCP VPCs.
- Instrument applications and infrastructure for observability using Dynatrace ? including APM, dashboards, anomaly detection, and alerting.
- Manage incident response processes: on-call rotations, runbooks, post-mortems, and continuous improvement to reduce MTTR.
- Collaborate with development teams to define SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets; enforce reliability standards across services.
- Maintain and contribute to Confluence wikis and Jira project boards for documentation, runbooks, sprint planning, and incident tracking.
- Evaluate and recommend tooling, platforms, and process improvements to increase engineering productivity and system resilience.
- Enforce security best practices across infrastructure including secrets management (Vault, GCP Secret Manager), RBAC, and compliance controls.
Mandatory Skills:
- CI/CD & Version Control: GitHub Actions, Git, branching strategies, pull request workflows, code review practices.
- Containerization: Docker ? image creation, multi-stage builds, container registry management.
- Kubernetes: Workload management, Helm charts, deployment strategies (rolling, blue/green, canary), Identity Management (LCM/RBAC), CRDs.
- Cloud Platform (GCP): Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Run, IAM, Amazon VPC, Cloud Storage, GCP - GCS, Secret Manager, Google cloud Monitoring and Logging, Pub/Sub.
- Infrastructure as Code & Terraform: Terraform (modules, workspaces, state management, remote backends); Cloud automation on GCP; GitOps practices with version-controlled IAC.
- Networking & Proxy: Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), DNS, TLS, ingress controllers, forward/reverse proxies, service mesh basics (Istio/Linkerd).
- Observability: Dynatrace APM, distributed tracing, metrics, log aggregation, alerting & dashboarding.
- Microservices Architecture: Service decomposition, API gateway patterns, inter-service communication (REST/gRPC).
- Deployment Strategies: Rolling updates, blue/green, canary, feature flags for zero-downtime releases.
- Atlassian Suite: Jira (sprint/backlog/incident tracking), Confluence (wiki, runbooks, documentation).
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in Python for automation, tooling, and custom operators.
- Security & Compliance: secrets management, image scanning, network policies, Identity Management (LCM/RBAC), audit logging.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with service mesh solutions such as Istio or Linkerd.
- Familiarity with multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure) in addition to GCP.
- Knowledge of chaos engineering practices (LitmusChaos, Chaos Monkey).
- Experience with ArgoCD, FluxCD, or other GitOps tooling for Kubernetes.
- Exposure to SRE practices as defined by the Google SRE Book (error budgets, toil reduction).
- Certifications: CKA/CKAD (Kubernetes), GCP Professional DevOps Engineer, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with ELK (Elasticsearch) or Grafana for complementary observability.
