Senior Azure Data Enginee
Job Purpose:
The Senior Azure Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and owning scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions on the Azure Data Platform. The role ensures end-to-end ownership of data pipelines, enabling product teams to deliver business value efficiently while maintaining strong standards in performance, cost optimization, and data governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy end-to-end Azure-based data solutions aligned with functional and non-functional requirements.
- Lead architecture and implementation across Azure data services such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Delta Lake, Snowflake, and integrations (SAP BW, MuleSoft, Apigee).
- Act as a technical authority for data engineering, translating business requirements into scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Own end-to-end data pipelines (semantic to bespoke layers) ensuring robustness, scalability, and reusability.
- Ensure high-quality, secure, and production-grade code, adhering to governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Drive performance optimization, cost reduction, and platform reliability improvements.
- Handle and resolve complex incidents, defects, and escalations, identifying root causes and implementing long-term fixes.
- Define and enforce data engineering standards, including data modeling, CI/CD, monitoring, and documentation practices.
- Implement and promote DevOps/DataOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and stakeholders to deliver efficient data solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to Agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support advanced platform services such as data quality analysis, access strategy, and optimization efforts.
Required Skills & Experience:
6-10 years of experience in data engineering with strong Azure Data Platform expertise.
Hands-on experience with:
Azure Data Factory (ADF)
Azure Databricks
Delta Lake
Snowflake
Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, PySpark (Java/.NET is a plus).
Experience with CI/CD, DevOps & DataOps tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Git).
Strong understanding of cloud architecture, data security, governance, and information risk.
Expertise in data pipeline design, performance tuning, and large-scale data processing.
Experience in data validation, automated testing, and production readiness practices.
Ability to make technical decisions and evaluate trade-offs (cost, performance, complexity).
