Job Description
Job TitleSenior DevOps Engineer / Cloud DevOps Engineer (Azure)Role SummaryWe are seeking a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer with proven experience in Azure DevOps (ADO) or GitHub Actions and strong expertise in YAML-based CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and container orchestration (preferably AKS). The role is focused on designing, implementing, and operating scalable, secure, and automated build/release and infrastructure solutions that enable rapid, repeatable delivery of applications and services. The ideal candidate partners closely with development, QA, security, and platform teams to drive automation, reliability, observability, and best practices across the SDLC.Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (ADO) or GitHub Actions with YAML pipeline-as-code approach.
- Implement application build and release processes that support multi-environment deployments, artifact management, versioning, approvals, and rollback strategies (blue/green, canary, feature flags).
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform, Azure Bicep, or ARM templates to provision, update, and manage Azure resources in a repeatable and auditable manner.
- Automate configuration and orchestration tasks using Ansible where applicable to manage OS-level and application deployments.
- Design, deploy, and operate container-based workloads in Kubernetes, with a focus on AKS best practices (cluster design, node pools, autoscaling, networking, storage, and security).
- Create and manage Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests or Customize overlays to package and deploy services consistently across environments.
- Integrate pipelines with artifact repositories (e.g., Azure Artifacts, Artifactory), container registries (e.g., ACR), secret management (Azure Key Vault), and identity automation (service principals, managed identities).
- Implement robust logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, Grafana) to ensure application and platform observability.
- Enforce security and compliance controls within build, release, and infrastructure automation (static scanning, vulnerability scanning, least privilege, RBAC policies).
- Troubleshoot and remediate CI/CD, IaC, and Kubernetes platform issues, including pipeline failures, deployment rollbacks, and runtime incidents.
- Establish and document standards, runbooks, onboarding guides, and pipeline templates to enable team scalability and consistent practices.
- Mentor and coach development teams on Git workflows, IaC patterns, deployment strategies, and cloud-native best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement by analyzing pipeline performance, deployment success rates, lead time for changes, and introducing automation to reduce toil.
Required Technical Skills / Experience
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) or GitHub Actions for CI/CD, with a strong preference for working extensively with YAML pipelines.
- Proven experience in building and releasing applications using YAML pipeline definitions, pipeline templates, multi-stage pipelines, and pipeline security controls.
- Solid experience in Infrastructure as Code using one or more of the following: Terraform, Azure Bicep, ARM templates.
- Strong Kubernetes experience, with practical knowledge of AKS operations, deployment strategies, networking (CNI), storage classes, ingress controllers, and cluster security.
- Practical experience in container tooling: Docker, image optimization, multi-arch builds, and container registries (preferably Azure Container Registry).
- Familiarity with configuration management and automation using Ansible (desired).
- Understanding of cloud networking, Azure resource architecture, identity and access management, managed identities, and service principal usage.
- Knowledge of CI/CD-related security practices: secret management (Azure Key Vault), static code analysis, container image scanning, and dependency vulnerability management.
- Comfortable with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python to glue tools and automate tasks.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Strong Git-based development workflow knowledge (branching strategies, PRs, merge policies) and code review practices.
Nice-to-Have / Preferred
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Administrator/Architect, HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.
- Familiarity with policy-as-code tools (e.g., Azure Policy, OPA/Gatekeeper, Sentinel).
- Experience with platform-as-a-service offerings, serverless deployment (Azure Functions), or data platform deployments.
- Prior experience building multi-tenant, regulated, or high-security cloud platforms.
Soft Skills and Collaboration
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with product, development, QA, security, and operations teams.
- Proactive problem solver with a bias for automation and continuous improvement.
- Ability to document designs, decisions, runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials clearly.
- Mentorship mindset to uplift team maturity in CI/CD, IaC, and cloud-native engineering.

- Secure secrets and access patterns integrated into pipelines and runtime environments.
- Measurable improvements in deployment frequency, lead time for changes, and mean time to recovery (MTTR).
