Job Title: Accounts Executive - Manufacturing Plant
Department: Finance & Accounts
Reporting To: General Manager- Finance
Location: Tema, Ghana
Job Purpose:
To ensure accurate and timely accounting, reporting, and compliance of all financial transactions related to plant operations, including procurement, production, inventory, payroll, and vendor management. The role supports smooth day-to-day accounting and provides financial insights for effective cost control and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate books of accounts in ERP/Tally/SAP (or relevant accounting system).
- Record all financial transactions including purchase, sales, expenses, and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Manage and reconcile general ledger, sub-ledgers, and intercompany accounts.
2. Payables & Receivables
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments as per credit terms.
- Prepare vendor reconciliation statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain customer accounts, track receivables, and follow up on outstanding dues.
3. Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Coordinate with the stores and production departments for accurate inventory records.
- Verify material issue, consumption, and closing stock.
- Assist in preparation of cost sheets and analysis of production cost variances.
4. Banking & Treasury Operations
- Handle daily banking operations including deposits, payments, and fund transfers.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and maintain cash flow statements.
- Support treasury functions and ensure sufficient working capital availability.
5. Statutory Compliance
- Assist in preparation and filing of statutory returns VAT, WHT, PAYE, Social Security, etc.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors for timely completion of audits.
6. Reporting
- Prepare monthly trial balance, P&L, and balance sheet schedules.
- Support in preparation of plant-level MIS reports and variance analysis.
- Provide timely reports to management on financial and operational performance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- Minimum 5-10 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (Tally, SAP, QuickBooks, or ERP system).
