Job Description
The Neurosurgeon will diagnose, treat, and manage disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and associated structures. This role involves performing complex surgical procedures, consulting with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality patient care with a strong emphasis on safety, precision, and ethical medical practices.
- Perform neurosurgical procedures including cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve surgeries.
- Diagnose neurological disorders using imaging, examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
- Respond to neurosurgical emergencies (trauma, hemorrhage, tumors, etc.).
- Utilize advanced surgical technologies (e.g., neuronavigation, microsurgery, endoscopy, robotics).
- Perform complex neurosurgical procedures such as:
- Brain tumor removal (craniotomy)
- Spine surgeries (discectomy, laminectomy, spinal fusion)
- Trauma surgeries (head injury, intracranial hemorrhage)
- Vascular neurosurgery (aneurysm clipping, AVM surgery)
- Use advanced techniques:
- Microsurgery
- Minimally invasive and endoscopic procedures
- Image-guided neuronavigation
2. Clinical Duties
- Evaluate patients with neurological symptoms (headache, seizures, weakness, trauma)
- Diagnose conditions using MRI, CT scans, angiography
- Develop surgical and non-surgical treatment plans
- Provide OPD, IPD, and emergency care
3. Emergency & Critical Care
- Manage life-threatening conditions:
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Stroke (hemorrhagic)
- Spinal cord compression
- Provide rapid decision-making in ICU and emergency settings
- Participate in on-call neurosurgical services
4. Pre & Post-Operative Care
- Conduct pre-operative risk assessments
- Obtain informed consent and counsel patients/families
- Monitor recovery and manage complications
- Plan rehabilitation and long-term follow-up
5. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work with:
- Neurologists
- Intensivists
- Radiologists
- Oncologists
- Rehabilitation specialists
- Participate in tumor boards and case reviews
