Job Description

A Medical Representative (MR)also called a pharmaceutical sales representativeacts as the link between a pharmaceutical company and healthcare professionals. Their main goal is to promote and increase awareness of the companys medicines.Here are the key roles & responsibilities: 1. Promoting Products

  • Visit doctors, pharmacists, and hospitals to explain company products
  • Highlight benefits, usage, dosage, and competitive advantages
  • Ensure doctors prescribe their brand of medicines

2. Sales & Target Achievement

  • Meet monthly/quarterly sales targets
  • Increase product demand in assigned territory
  • Monitor sales performance and market share

3. Relationship Building

  • Build strong professional relationships with doctors and healthcare providers
  • Maintain regular follow-ups and trust
  • Address queries and provide product updates

4. Product Knowledge

  • Stay updated on:
    • Drug composition
    • Indications and side effects
    • Competitor products
  • Attend training sessions conducted by the company

5. Distribution Management

  • Coordinate with stockists, chemists, and distributors
  • Ensure product availability in pharmacies
  • Monitor inventory levels

6. Market Research & Feedback

  • Collect feedback from doctors and chemists
  • Track competitor activities
  • Report market trends to management

7. Planning & Reporting

  • Plan daily visit schedules (doctor calls)
  • Maintain call records and reports
  • Submit daily/weekly/monthly reports

8. Conducting Promotional Activities

  • Organize:
    • Medical camps
    • Doctor meetings
    • Product presentations
  • Participate in conferences and seminars

9. Compliance & Ethics

  • Follow pharmaceutical regulations and ethical marketing practices
  • Ensure accurate and honest communication about medicines
