Job Title: Senior Solutions Engineer/Solution Architect Connected Devices and IoT
Role Overview
As a Senior Solutions Engineer (Connected Devices/IoT), you will be a key technical leader responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting end-to-end IoT solutions that connect devices, edge platforms, and cloud ecosystems. You will work closely with customers, sales, product management, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions.
Your deep expertise in device communication protocols, embedded systems, cloud platforms, and modern networking will help drive innovation and successful implementation of IoT solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Architecture & Design: Understanding of architectures for end-to-end connected device ecosystems spanning hardware, firmware, edge platforms, and cloud integration. Knowledge of latest industry-standard IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP, OPC UA, BLE, LoRaWAN, etc.) and data ingestion patterns.
Technical Documentation: Technical Proposal, Sales pitch, Capability Decks, Case studies, RFXs, Driving Workshops
Solution Engineering & Delivery: Work with customers/internal stakeholders to gather requirements and design scalable, secure solutions. Drive proof-of-concepts (POCs), prototypes, and technical demonstrations of IoT solutions.
Collaboration & Support:
- Liaise with engineering teams to ensure customer requirements and design principles are implemented efficiently.
- Provide technical guidance to sales and pre-sales teams to position solutions effectively.
- Train customers, partners, and internal teams on connected device solutions.
Performance, Security & Compliance: Knowledge of
- Device security (PKI, certificates, secure OTA updates) and data privacy.
- Benchmark solutions for scale and performance across diverse devices and geographies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
Continuous Innovation:
- Stay up-to-date with trends in IoT platforms, hardware, and cloud ecosystems.
- Suggest improvements in tools, processes, and architecture to enhance solution delivery and reliability.
Qualifications
Education: MBA/Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Experience: 612 years of hands-on experience in IoT solutions engineering, embedded systems, or connected devices.
Technical Skills:
- Good knowledge on device communication protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP(S), etc.).
- Good knowledge of Linux-based embedded devices and edge platforms.
- Experience with cloud services for IoT (AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, Google IoT Core, etc.).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and DevOps CI/CD practices.
- Understanding of network fundamentals (VPNs, NAT traversal, Firewalls).
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges independently.
- Excellent stakeholder management and teamwork and also can work as individual contributor.
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge on AI/ML at the edge or on IoT devices.
- Familiarity with 5G, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, or other emerging wireless technologies.
- Exposure to architecture frameworks like TOGAF
- Exposure to hardware security modules (HSM), TPM, and secure boot processes.
- Familiarity with time-series databases (e.g. InfluxDB, Timescale) and data visualization tools (Grafana, Power BI).
- Contributions to open-source IoT projects or frameworks.
