Job description/ roles & responsibilities
- Responsibilities
- Overseeing electrical projects from conceptualization to completion, including developing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and managing resources to meet deadlines.
- Performing detailed electrical design activities and calculations, such as transformer sizing, generator set sizing, cable sizing, earthing/grounding calculations, and lighting calculations.
- Preparing detailed engineering documentation, including single-line diagrams (SLD), schematics, equipment layouts, cable schedules, and technical specifications/data sheets for components like alternators, switchgear, control panels, and circuit breakers.
- Liaising with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, contractors, suppliers, clients, and regulatory authorities to ensure seamless project execution and integration with other systems.
- Supervising the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, including gensets, control systems, and power distribution networks. This often involves on-site presence and technical support.
- Ensuring all designs and work comply with industry standards (e.g., ISO8528, UL2200)
- Providing technical expertise and problem-solving support for site-related or operational issues during project execution and ongoing maintenance.
- Skills and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is a standard requirement.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power systems, control systems, and automation technologies. Familiarity with specific genset equipment (diesel/gas generators, alternators, controllers) is crucial.
- Competence in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN)
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team coordination skills are essential for managing diverse stakeholders and teams.
