Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to manage and modernize our hybrid Business Intelligence & Analytics ecosystem. This role combines Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, Java Build Engineering, and BI Platform modernization to ensure reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across enterprise reporting platforms.
As part of this role, you will own the project-level Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure supporting enterprise reporting applications such as IBM Cognos and JasperReports, while also driving next-generation analytics initiatives using Looker, React, and emerging AI technologies.
You will work closely with Cloud Engineering, BI teams, and enterprise stakeholders to optimize deployments, automate operations, and help shape the future of analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & CI/CD Operations
- Provision and manage GCP resources including Compute Engine, Load Balancers, and project-specific IAM using Terraform.
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and modernize complex legacy Terraform deployments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines across Dev, Cert, and Production environments using GitHub Actions and enterprise deployment tools.
- Integrate deployment pipelines with ServiceNow (SNOW) for automated release and change management processes.
- Collaborate with centralized Cloud Infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with organizational security and networking standards.
Java Ecosystem & Application Optimization
- Manage and maintain customized JasperReports deployments and Java-based enterprise applications.
- Handle Maven builds, dependency management, and JAR artifact compilation.
- Perform JVM tuning, dispatcher routing, and OS-level optimizations for BI applications hosted on GCP.
Looker, Custom Dashboards & AI Innovation
- Develop highly customized dashboards and embedded analytics solutions using React and Looker extensions.
- Translate business logic from legacy Cognos and Jaspersoft models into scalable LookML solutions.
- Automate administrative and operational tasks using Python, Bash, and Looker APIs/SDKs.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, including conversational analytics and agentic AI solutions.
Observability & Incident Management
- Implement and maintain monitoring solutions using Looker System Activity and Google Cloud Operations Suite.
- Participate in incident response, on-call rotations, and blameless post-mortem reviews.
- Monitor platform health, query performance, infrastructure utilization, and data pipeline reliability.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, Full-Stack Engineering, or Data Operations.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Terraform and GCP in enterprise, multi-project environments.
- Extensive experience with GitHub Actions, enterprise deployment orchestration, and ServiceNow integrations.
- Strong Java build engineering experience using Maven, including dependency resolution and pom.xml management.
- Experience building custom applications or dashboards using React.
- Expert-level SQL skills with strong experience in analytical databases, especially Google BigQuery.
- Experience tuning and managing enterprise Java applications (JVM/Tomcat optimization).
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python and/or Bash.
- Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and operational support capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LookML development or Looker administration.
- Experience migrating legacy BI/reporting platforms to modern analytics solutions.
- Strong interest in AI, conversational analytics, and agentic workflows.
- Experience with IBM Cognos Analytics and Jasper Reports.
- Google Cloud certifications such as:
- Professional Cloud Architect
- Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer
- Professional Data Engineer
