Job Description
Role & responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled Highway Design Engineer with experience in the planning, geometric design, and delivery of highway and roadway infrastructure projects. The candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of highway engineering standards and be proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D for roadway design, corridor modeling, surface development, grading, and production of construction drawings.
Preferred candidate profile
- Prepare geometric design of highways, expressways, urban roads, intersections, interchanges, and related transportation infrastructure.
- Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, typical cross-sections, super-elevation, and widening designs in accordance with applicable standards and client requirements.
- Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D for:
- Alignment creation and modification.
- Profile and corridor modeling.
- Surface generation and terrain analysis.
- Grading and earthwork calculations.
- Cross-section development and quantity estimation.
- Production of plan, profile, and section drawings.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including drainage, structures, traffic, utilities, and environmental disciplines.
- Review survey data, topographic information, and design inputs for project development.
- Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and construction documentation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as IRC, AASHTO, DMRB, or project-specific guidelines.
- Support project managers in design reviews, client coordination, and project delivery.
- Perform quality checks and ensure adherence to company QA/QC procedures.
- Assist in preparing tender and bid documentation where required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Experience in highway/roadway design projects.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of highway geometric design principles.
- Experience with corridor modeling, grading, and earthwork analysis.
- Knowledge of highway design standards and specifications.
- Ability to interpret survey and GIS data.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
