Responsibilities:
- Education and Training: Provide education and training to physicians and clinical staff on documentation best practices and compliance with coding guidelines
- Documentation Review: Review clinical documentation to ensure it accurately reflects the patient's condition, treatments, and outcomes
- Collaboration: Work closely with CDI specialists, coding staff, and other healthcare professionals to identify documentation improvement opportunities
- Feedback and Coaching: Offer constructive feedback and coaching to physicians to improve their documentation skills
- Compliance: Ensure documentation meets regulatory requirements and supports accurate coding for reimbursement
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on documentation performance metrics and progress
Qualifications:
- Experience: Clinical experience in a ED healthcare setting, preferably with knowledge of CDI processes
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively educate and coach physicians
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze clinical data and identify documentation gaps
- Knowledge of Coding Guidelines: Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and other coding standards
This role is essential for ensuring that clinical documentation accurately reflects patient care, which is vital for quality reporting, reimbursement, and overall healthcare outcomes
