Job Description (JD): Agentic AI Developer (AWS)Role OverviewThe Agentic AI Developer will design, build, and operate production-grade AI agents on AWS to automate and augment business workflows. This role focuses on delivering end-to-end agentic solutionsfrom agent orchestration and tool integrations through to user experience, observability, security controls, and safe release practices (e.g., canary/phased rollout and human approval gates).Key Responsibilities
- Develop AI-powered products and workflows (e.g., inefficiency elimination, license harvesting, product tier optimisation) using agentic patterns.
- Design agent orchestration, decision logic, and tool-calling patterns; implement safeguards such as human-in-the-loop approvals for high-risk actions.
- Build and maintain retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) components, including knowledge sources, chunking strategies, embeddings, and evaluation of retrieval quality.
- Implement integrations with enterprise systems and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams) via secure APIs and event-driven workflows.
- Develop backend services and serverless functions; manage state, workflows, and eventing for reliable multi-step agent execution.
- Build user-facing experiences (web UI and/or chat experiences) for interacting with agents, capturing feedback, and guiding users through workflows.
- Apply software engineering best practices: modular design, unit/integration testing, code review, documentation, and maintainable repositories.
- Establish observability (logs/metrics/traces), cost monitoring, and quality KPIs for agents (latency, success rate, hallucination/error rate).
- Partner with DevOps/SRE to implement CI/CD, environment promotion, and safe release strategies (canary, phased rollout, rollback).
- Work with security/compliance stakeholders to ensure IAM least privilege, secrets management, audit trails, and policy-aligned data handling.
- Support production operations: incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvements to prompts, tools, and knowledge bases.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience building LLM applications and/or AI agents, including prompt design, tool calling, and evaluation.
- Experience with agent frameworks and interoperability standards (e.g., Amazon AgentCore, Agent SDK (Strands SDK), MCP (Model Context Protocol), and A2A patterns) to integrate tools/services reliably.
- Strong programming skills in Python and at least one additional backend language/runtime (e.g., TypeScript/Node.js, Java).
- Experience building APIs (REST), authentication/authorisation patterns, and integrating with external/internal systems.
- Working knowledge of event-driven and serverless architectures, including failure handling, retries, idempotency, and state management.
- Practical experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform) and source control (Git).
- Understanding of security-by-design practices: least-privilege IAM, secrets management, encryption, and audit logging.
- Ability to collaborate across product, data, security, and operations teams; clear written and verbal communication.
AWS-Specific Technical Skills
- Amazon Bedrock: foundation model usage, prompt management, evaluation; experience with Bedrock Agents, Knowledge Bases, and Guardrails.
- Agent frameworks & protocols: Amazon AgentCore; Agent SDK (Strands SDK); experience implementing agent interoperability patterns such as MCP (Model Context Protocol) and A2A (agent-to-agent) protocols for tool/service integration.
- Serverless & integration: AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon EventBridge.
- Data & state: Amazon DynamoDB (workflow/agent state), Amazon S3 (documents, knowledge sources, logs/artifacts).
- Observability: Amazon CloudWatch (logs, metrics, alarms, dashboards); tracing approach aligned to distributed workflows.
- Security & governance: AWS IAM (roles/policies), AWS Secrets Manager, KMS (as applicable), and audit-friendly logging patterns.
- DevOps: AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild/CodeDeploy or GitHub Actions; familiarity with AWS Organizations/Control Tower (enterprise environments).
- Front-end enablement (where applicable): AWS Amplify for hosting/deployment of web apps.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Front-end development experience with React (and modern UI patterns for chat/agent experiences).
- Experience with container platforms (Amazon ECS/EKS) and microservices.
- Experience with data engineering services such as AWS Glue, Amazon Athena/Redshift, or streaming (Amazon Kinesis).
- Familiarity with Amazon SageMaker for model evaluation/monitoring or experimentation workflows.
- Experience integrating with Microsoft 365/Teams (bots, messaging extensions, Graph-based integrations) and enterprise identity.
- Experience implementing LLM safety controls (prompt injection mitigation, PII handling, policy enforcement) and red-teaming/evaluation.
