Job Description
About the role
Join a small, high-impact team building a new asset management SaaS platform from the ground up. Youll work directly with an Australia-based team and be the senior-most engineer shaping the architecture, systems, and engineering standards from day one.
This is a greenfield build with real ownership and long-term impact. You wont just contribute, youll define how the platform is designed and evolves.
What you'll do
- Set technical direction and make key architectural decisions
- Design and build core backend services using TypeScript (Node/Bun) and PostgreSQL
- Guide frontend and infrastructure direction, working across the stack where needed
- Own and improve engineering practices, including testing, code quality, and reviews
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers and help grow the team
- Work with product stakeholders to shape scope and delivery
- Lead incident response and continuously improve system reliability
What we're looking for
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with strong ownership in production systems
- Deep backend experience (Node.js/TypeScript or similar)
- Solid frontend experience (React or similar), comfortable contributing when needed
- Strong understanding of system design, APIs, and data modelling
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and modern deployment practices
- Experience leading technical decisions in a small team environment
- Comfortable working in greenfield environments with ambiguity
- Strong written communication (remote team)
Nice to have
- Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar)
- Multi-tenant SaaS systems
- Real-time data systems or event-driven architecture
- Offline-first or sync-heavy applications
- Mobile experience (React Native or native)
