Job Description

Key Responsibilities : 

Installation & Pre-Commissioning

  • Verify installation of field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers) as per P&IDs, hook-up drawings, and datasheets.
  • Supervise installation of impulse tubing, capillary routing, instrument air piping, and analyzer shelters.
  • Inspect instrument mounting, tagging, earthing, and junction box wiring.
  • Ensure proper installation of control valves, on-off valves, MOVs, and actuators.
  • Perform loop checking, continuity checks, and insulation resistance (IR) testing.

Commissioning & Start-up

  • Calibrate instruments using standard test equipment (HART communicators, calibrators).
  • Commission DCS/PLC systems including I/O checks and logic verification.
  • Support cold commissioning, hot commissioning, and initial plant start-up.
  • Assist process engineers in functional testing and interlock validation.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues during trial runs and start-up phases.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure proper functioning of ESD, Fire & Gas (F&G), and safety interlock systems.
  • Adhere strictly to plant safety procedures during all commissioning activities.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards and statutory regulations.

Coordination & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including process, mechanical, and electrical departments.
  • Interface with OEMs and package vendors for system integration and troubleshooting.
  • Supervise and guide technicians and contractors during commissioning activities.

Preferred candidate profile

  • 310 years of experience in chemical or petrochemical plant commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of field instrumentation systems.
  • Hands-on experience with control valves, transmitters, analyzers, DCS and PLC systems, and safety systems (ESD, F&G).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics & Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Diploma in Electronics & Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control, or Instrumentation Engineering

Work Conditions

  • Site-based role involving plant commissioning activities.
  • Willingness to work in shifts during start-up and critical phases.
  • Exposure to industrial plant environments and field conditions.
