Job Description
Role Overview
The Assistant Manager Direct Taxation will be responsible for independently managing direct tax compliance, assessments, audits, tax planning, and regulatory reporting for the organization. The role will ensure adherence to statutory requirements while driving process improvements and strengthening tax governance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end direct tax compliance including Income Tax Returns, Tax Audits, TDS/TCS compliance, and statutory filings.
- Review and ensure accuracy of monthly TDS workings, payments, and quarterly returns.
- Lead Advance Tax and Deferred Tax calculations and reporting.
- Handle tax assessments, notices, scrutiny proceedings, and departmental correspondence.
- Ensure timely completion of SFT compliance, master filing requirements, and other regulatory obligations.
- Review tax reconciliations including Form 26AS, books of accounts, and statutory records.
- Partner with finance, business, and external consultants on tax-related matters.
- Identify tax risks and recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance.
- Support tax planning initiatives and process improvements.
- Prepare management reports, tax dashboards, and compliance updates for leadership.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of direct taxation, income tax laws, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience handling tax assessments, audits, and statutory filings.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Advanced MS Excel and reporting skills.
- Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- High standards of integrity, accuracy, and professional ethics.
