Job Description
Role Summary
Design high-voltage electrical systems for wind and solar pooling stations, and collector networks.
- A detailed knowledge of module technology selection, string inverters, central inverters
- detailed engineering knowledge of hybrid systems i.e. Wind, Battery energy storage systems (BESS), (DC-coupled/ AC-coupled)
- Knowledge of DC system sizing: string sizing, voltage/current calculations, and optimization.
- AC system design: inverter selection, transformer sizing, grid interconnection.
- DC/AC system design: Overall plant layout, Block sizing selection, MV/LV system layout, transformer and switchgear specification.
- Detailed working exp. of 400kV Substation design & Transmission line
- Design and review of SCADA, protection relays, and communication systems.
- Proficient in all the required codes and standards i.e IS, NEC, IEC, IEEE, and local electrical grid codes.
- Knowledge of Reactive Power Studies for CTU/STU projects
Responsibilities
- Station Design: Deliver AIS and GIS layouts for solar plants and wind farms.
- System Calculations: Compute conductor sizing, sag tension, battery banks, and short-circuit forces.
- Safety Engineering: Design earthing systems and direct lightning stroke protection (DSLP).
- Material Quantities: Prepare accurate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Vendor Management: Review technical drawings from wind turbine and solar inverter vendors.
- Grid Compliance: Ensure designs meet grid code requirements for renewable energy integration.
- Interface Control: Coordinate protection schemes between renewable generation plants and the grid.
- Timeline Oversight: Monitor design delivery milestones for both active projects and tenders.
Technical & Software Skills
- Design Tools: Mastery of AutoCAD for electrical layouts and sections is mandatory.
- Analysis Software: Proficiency in ETAP and CDEGS software is highly preferred.
- Standard Compliance: Deep knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
- Power Systems: Expertise in Extra High Voltage (EHV) designs and diverse busbar schemes.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Drawing Expertise: Ability to create Single Line Diagrams (SLD), cable layouts, and trench designs.
- Independent Worker: Proven track record of managing engineering packages with minimal supervision.
- Communication: Strong skills to negotiate and resolve technical issues with clients and vendors.
