Job Description
vConstruct, a Pune-based Construction Technology company, is seeking a Sr Lead Mechanical Engineer with 12+ years of experience to lead and oversee mechanical engineering design services for global construction projects. This role demands strong technical leadership, deep expertise in mechanical systems, and close coordination with a US-licensed engineer to ensure delivery of high-quality, compliant, and constructible mechanical design solutions across all phases of project execution.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading, reviewing, and overseeing the creation and quality assurance of mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout all phases of project design, in coordination with a US-licensed engineer.
- Lead and oversee complex mechanical system designs and analytical models using advanced knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
- Provide technical direction and approval for mechanical design concepts, calculations, and deliverables.
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert (SME) by providing technical leadership and guidance to mechanical engineering teams.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve mechanical design standards, workflows, and quality control processes.
- Align mechanical engineering priorities with overall project objectives, client requirements, and business goals.
- Support multidisciplinary coordination and resolve complex design, constructability, and technical challenges.
- Oversee and support construction administration activities including critical RFIs, submittal reviews, field issues, and technical risk mitigation.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers to strengthen technical capability and design quality.
- Contribute to strategic planning, technical risk evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills
- Minimum 12+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design for commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Expert-level knowledge of applicable mechanical codes and standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, IEC, and related regulations.
- Proven experience leading and reviewing complex mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and specialized mechanical systems.
- Strong proficiency in mechanical design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), and related analysis software.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and influence engineering decisions across multiple projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, mentoring, and leadership skills.
Experience supporting US-based projects and working with US-licensed engineers is strongly preferred.
Education
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience required.
