Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cognos BI Developer with strong experience in Cognos Analytics (Cognos 11) and SQL Server (T-SQL). The ideal candidate will specialize in developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting tabular reports using Report Studio, with a strong understanding of report bursting and performance debugging.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain tabular reports using Cognos Report Studio
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries (T-SQL) against SQL Server databases
• Implement and manage report bursting techniques (email, file system, distribution lists, etc.)
• Analyze and debug existing Cognos reports, including breaking down report queries, layouts, and performance issues
• Collaborate with business users to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance in reports
• Support report migration, enhancement, and optimization initiatives
• Assist in transitioning reports from Cognos to other BI platforms (if applicable)

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Cognos Analytics (Cognos 11)
• Strong experience with Report Studio (focus on tabular reporting, not dashboards)
• Proficiency in SQL Server and T-SQL
• Solid understanding of:
• Query subjects and data modules
• Report performance tuning
• Prompting and filters
• Experience with report bursting techniques
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for complex reports
