Job Description
Job Summary:
We are looking for a qualified Safety Mining Officer to oversee and ensure compliance with safety regulations in mining operations. The role involves implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring a safe working environment in accordance with DGMS guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to all statutory safety regulations (DGMS, Mines Act, etc.)
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments at mine sites
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective and preventive measures
- Develop and enforce safety procedures, policies, and SOPs
- Monitor safe working practices across mining operations
- Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for workers
- Investigate accidents/incidents and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis
- Maintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentation
- Coordinate with government authorities and ensure regulatory compliance
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment at site
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering or related field
- Valid DGMS certification (First Class/Second Class Manager Certificate)
- Additional certification in Industrial Safety is preferred
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of DGMS regulations and mining safety standards
- Experience in open cast/underground mining operations
- Risk assessment and hazard identification
- Incident investigation & reporting
- Safety audit and compliance management
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work in challenging mining environments
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of ISO safety standards (ISO 45001)
