Job Summary:
As a Python DICOM Engineer, you will be at the heart of our medical imaging platform, enabling seamless integration, processing, and visualization of complex imaging data. Your work will directly influence how quickly and accurately healthcare providers can diagnose and treat patients. From optimizing DICOM parsing to building AI-ready imaging pipelines, you'll be shaping the future of digital healthcare.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain Python-based modules for reading, writing, and processing DICOM files.
- Implement efficient DICOM parsing, metadata extraction, and image transformation workflows.
- Integrate imaging pipelines with PACS, RIS, and cloud-based storage systems.
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to prepare imaging datasets for training and inference.
- Optimize performance for large-scale imaging datasets, ensuring low latency and high reliability.
- Work closely with QA and clinical experts to validate image fidelity and compliance with medical standards.
- Contribute to internal libraries and tools that improve developer productivity and code quality.
What You'll Bring
- Strong proficiency in Python with hands-on experience in libraries like pydicom, numpy, and pillow.
- Solid understanding of DICOM standards and related imaging protocols.
- Experience integrating with PACS systems and handling HL7/FHIR data is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for medical data storage and processing.
- Knowledge of image processing techniques and libraries such as OpenCV or SimpleITK.
- Strong debugging skills and a meticulous approach to handling sensitive healthcare data.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including clinicians and data scientists.
