Lead DevOps Engineer Terraform, Kubernetes & CI/CD Automation
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in Infrastructure Automation, CI/CD Engineering, Kubernetes Administration, and Release Management within on-premises data center environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, and deployment automation frameworks such as JUMP.
This role requires close collaboration with development, QA, infrastructure, and release teams to build scalable automation solutions, standardize deployments, and maintain reliable platform operations across multiple environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure automation using Terraform in on-premises data centers.
- Create, maintain, and enhance reusable Terraform modules to provision and standardize infrastructure resources within on-premises data center environments.
- Automate environment bootstrap activities, including compute provisioning, namespace setup, configuration baselines, and platform dependencies required by application teams.
- Manage infrastructure definitions through version-controlled repositories and enforce idempotent, repeatable provisioning practices across lower and higher environments.
- Implement policy-aligned infrastructure configurations for security, naming standards, access controls, and operational consistency.
- Review and optimize Terraform code organization, variable management, state handling, and module reusability to improve maintainability and deployment reliability.
- CI/CD automation and JUMP-enabled release workflow engineering.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and shell scripting for build validation, artifact promotion, and deployment execution.
- Integrate JUMP framework-driven configuration and deployment steps into pipeline workflows to accelerate application onboarding and promote standardized releases.
- Implement gated approvals, branch protections, parameterized jobs, and environment-specific workflows to support reliable software delivery.
- Standardize release processes for sandbox, development, QA, UAT, staging, and production environments.
- Troubleshoot failed builds and deployment runs by analyzing logs, dependency issues, agent behavior, and configuration drift.
- Kubernetes and container platform administration for on-prem environments.
- Provision, configure, and support Kubernetes clusters and namespaces used for containerized application deployments in on-premises environments.
- Manage deployment configurations, scaling parameters, resource allocations, rollout strategies, and runtime settings for workload stability.
- Support Docker image lifecycle activities, including image standards, build integration, registry usage, and deployment readiness.
- Validate cluster health, node readiness, pod behavior, ingress/service connectivity, and configuration consistency across environments.
- Coordinate container platform changes with infrastructure and application teams to maintain uptime and support release schedules.
- Automation of environment configuration, security, and platform services.
- Automate and manage environment-level services such as DNS configuration, access setup, certificates, server configuration, and baseline platform integrations needed by application teams.
- Coordinate infrastructure changes involving compute, storage, networking, and service dependencies within on-premises data centers.
- Implement least-privilege access concepts, role-based controls, and standardized provisioning steps in support of secure operations.
- Support configuration management and environment consistency through scripts, templates, and operational checklists.
- Validate environment readiness prior to deployments by checking connectivity, permissions, dependencies, and service availability.
- JUMP framework-driven onboarding, deployment standardization, and infrastructure maintenance.
- Use the JUMP framework to support onboarding of new applications, standardize deployment structures, and accelerate environment setup activities.
- Prepare and maintain JUMP-related configuration files and deployment inputs required for framework-based implementation and release execution.
- Coordinate JUMP-based deployment activities with Terraform automation and CI/CD pipelines to ensure consistency across environments.
- Support infrastructure maintenance activities needed for applications deployed through JUMP, including dependency alignment, environment validation, and operational readiness.
- Work with technical teams to ensure JUMP methodologies are followed for rapid onboarding, deployment consistency, and framework compatibility.
- Release engineering, deployment planning, and change execution.
- Plan and execute deployment activities across non-production and production environments in coordination with development, QA, and release management teams.
- Prepare deployment plans, promotion paths, rollback procedures, and validation checklists for application and infrastructure changes.
- Support code promotions, branch strategy execution, release scheduling, and maintenance-window deployments.
- Conduct post-deployment verification, smoke checks, and sanity testing to confirm system health and service readiness.
- Work with stakeholders to resolve release blockers and ensure timely delivery of approved changes.
- DevOps standards, version control, quality governance, and JUMP delivery best practices.
- Establish and enforce best practices for source control usage, branching, tagging, merge reviews, and configuration versioning.
- Promote consistent use of scripting, automation, infrastructure code, and framework-based deployment standards across repositories and team deliverables.
- Support artifact management processes using repository tools and standardized release packaging methods.
- Drive quality-focused reviews of Terraform code, scripts, pipeline definitions, and JUMP-related configurations to identify security, performance, and supportability concerns.
- Ensure automation changes align with organizational standards and client-specific operational requirements.
- Cross-functional coordination with technical and business teams.
- Work with technical managers, project managers, developers, QA teams, and infrastructure stakeholders to define requirements and align delivery priorities.
- Review stories and tasks in JIRA to ensure infrastructure and deployment acceptance criteria are complete and actionable.
- Coordinate with onsite and offshore teams to communicate implementation details, resolve blockers, and track deliverables.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical discussions, and planning sessions to support iteration goals and release readiness.
- Provide regular status updates on environment work, deployments, automation progress, JUMP onboarding activities, and issue remediation.
- Documentation, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational knowledge management.
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, configuration records, and deployment procedures in Confluence, JIRA, and related repositories.
- Prepare runbooks and support guides for environment provisioning, deployment execution, rollback handling, and operational maintenance.
- Document JUMP-related onboarding steps, reusable configurations, deployment dependencies, and release procedures for team reuse.
- Keep environment diagrams, release notes, and support references current with implemented changes.
- JUMP framework support, enhancements, metrics analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Support ongoing JUMP framework adoption by identifying reusable deployment patterns, improving onboarding workflows, and recommending framework enhancements.
- Ensure JUMP-related libraries, templates, and supporting components remain current to maintain compatibility and reduce operational risk.
- Gather and analyze operational metrics related to pipeline performance, deployment success rates, environment stability, and framework-based onboarding efficiency.
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and recurring support issues; implement improvements in automation, configuration, and release practices.
- Contribute operational feedback, documentation updates, and implementation insights for future JUMP framework improvements and tailored business use cases.
