Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup & Operation:
- Set up and operate VMCs (3, 4, or 5-axis) with controls such as Mazak, Makino, Haas, and Siemens.
- Perform manual programming and editing of CNC programs.
- Ensure machines are calibrated and ready for production runs.
- Engineering Drawing Interpretation:
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Apply knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) symbols to ensure component accuracy.
- Quality Assurance:
- Use precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM, height gauges) to inspect parts and maintain tight tolerances.
- Conduct first-off and in-process inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Tooling & Fixturing:
- Select, install, and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
- Optimize tool paths and machining parameters for efficiency and quality.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve machining issues (e.g., tool wear, dimensional deviations).
- Perform basic preventive maintenance on VMCs.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain logs of machine operations, tool changes, and inspection results.
- Collaborate with engineers and programmers to refine processes.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
- Require 412 years of experience as a VMC Setter/Operator in aerospace, automotive, or precision metal machining.
- Proficiency Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T symbols.
- Hands-on experience with 3, 4, or 5-axis VMCs and controls like Mazak, Makino, Haas, or Siemens.
- Expertise in using precision measuring instruments.
Knowledge of cutting tools, materials (e.g., aluminum, titanium, alloys), and machining
